Sick little girl

I know there has been a lot of YUCK out there with a lot of people sick and fast spreading of germs with all the holiday gatherings and I was really hoping we would escape it too, but nope!

Since Saturday, Aubrey has been running a pretty high fever, even up to 105 degrees at one point on Sunday! Steve and I didn't know if we should take her it or nor but we kept dosing her with Advil and Tylenol every three hours hoping time would heal, but it didn't.

I really didn't think it was her ears and she really didn't have a lot of symptoms except she seemed to be very sensitive on her neck and throat area, so maybe that was the deal?! Monday morning came and it was another restless night for all so I decided to take her in but I couldn't get in until 11:30. I always hate knowing whether I should take her in or not, but this time I thought better safe than sorry and I was glad I did!

The Doctor (not our usual one) was a bit confused with the high fever with lack of symptoms. He looked in her ears and there was some fluid in each ear, but not warrant enough for such a high fever. Then he looked in her throat and saw pus! So, it was concluded that she has tonsillitis, probably strep, and a minor ear infection in both ears. Poor little girl!

So, we get to ring in the New Year at home!

Saturday morning on the coach...thinking she wasn't feeling so great already then.

Awww

Sunday night! So sick and snuggly!

We went back and forth from TV
to movies
to you tube clips to keep her entertained!

Videos!

Here is a blog post FULL of VIDEOS! I hope you can enjoy even though there is a lot of crazy talk from me and the background sound effects of people not realizing they are on the video too!

Here is Aubrey opening her very first gift for the 2012 Christmas
at Grandpa and Grandma Betty's house!

Now we are at Grandpa and Grandma Van Grouw's house.
Aubrey was SO EXCITED to see Camryn and Gavin!

The girls were supposed to be eating supper
but playing with Uncle Curt and Uncle Josh was way more fun!
Enjoy all the giggles and screams!

The girls were busy doing "...ashes, ashes...we all fall down"
amidst all the craziness of the presents!

Here we are opening Christmas presents at the Van Grouw Christmas!
12-23-12

Grandpa Craig always starts by reading the Christmas story
before we can begin opening the presents.
12-25-12

(part 1)
We thought we would show Aubrey her new presents that we spent
the night before putting together while she was in bed, BUT
she was not ready for all the excitement first thing in the morning.
I thought I had the video camera off, but I guess I didn't.
So you get a sneak peek at what happened behind the scenes!
12-26-12

(part 2)
So after she calmed down a bit, she thought it would be ok
to open a present that was left under tree.
But this time she was very distracted and that didn't last long!
12-26-12

(part 3)
She FINALLY was willing to listen to the fact that there were
new presents put together and she might want to check them out!

Our Christmas

Throughout the past week we have just let Aubrey open presents when we are home and it works. We didn't do anything special and even her BIG present, we didn't even wrap, we just put it together and when she woke up this morning, there it was!

Opening some presents, still in our jammies, Christmas morning!

Daddy encouraging Aubrey to speed it along :)

I SPY book!

Then we got ready for church and opened a few more!
A little book set of DORA for church!

Here it is, Mommy!

The only present Mommy got him

The only present I got to open since
Steve already book together my shoe organizer!

Aubrey's NEW KITCHEN!
It took us quite a bit of time and noise to assemble while she was in bed,
but when she woke up it was ready to play with!

Also assembly required!

More assembly required!
I think it took us about an hour and a half of both of us working
to put together all these new toys!

Already playing with her toys and loving ALL of them!
What a good Christmas, Aubrey Dawn!

Oh dear...I don't think Aubrey gets that it's a baby bed for her DOLLIES! :)

Last presents were opened after supper tonight!

Slowly bringing the trash to Mommy...

Christmas Party #4

Our fourth Christmas Party was on Christmas Day with Steve's immediate family.
So that meant Grandpa Craig and Grandma Char, Dan and Andrea (and Baby Palmer...on the way), our little family of three, and Great Grandpa and Grandma Kaisand came later on in the day.
The McMahans were still in Tennessee so we missed them!
We went to church together at Tracy CRC for the morning and then came back to Steve's parents house. We then opened stockings, had "brunch," opened other gifts, took naps, ate snacks and played games for the day.
It was a very busy day as we were gone from about 8:45 in the morning to 8:00 at night!
Here are some of the highlights of the day.

Grandpa Craig playing with puzzles before the fun begins!

Aubrey's designated spot
to open her stocking presents.

Yay! A cooking set for her new kitchen she got!

Aww...a nice bumble bee pillow/blankie
to snuggle with...thanks!

Some of our presents...

So intricately ripping each piece!

Ohhhh...some princess books with noises!

A nice safe to keep all our treasure! :)
(I mean our important documents)

Swinging around her new clothes!

DORA! DORA! DORA!

Getting ready for a nap with her two blankies,
her two babies, and her milk sippy of course.

Being silly with Great Grandpa Kaisand to end the night!

Christmas Party #3

Once we left Northwest Iowa, we went straight to Grandma and Grandpa Kaisand's
for the extended Kaisand family Christmas.
We got there around 5:00 and were there until 9:00.
We had supper as a family first and then opening presents and had goodies.
This was the year for DORA!
Thanks to all of you who had a shoe in with Dora to get all these cool toys :)
Thanks Grandma and Grandma Kaisand for the generous Christmas gifts!

Playing with Grandpa Craig before present time

Aubrey being so particular with the trash.
She had to go find a place to throw it away before she could continue opening.

More trash!

What is it, Aubrey?!

Awww, she loves all her new DORA toys!

This was too cute!
She got a little dancing DORA that said and sang
all the famous lines as on the TV show.
Aubrey got it to play this "We Did It" song
and instantly started dancing with Dora!
Enjoy!

More dancing fun with Dora!

LOL!
She even got a dress up outfit just like Dora!
The hair was hilarious!

Aubrey's new best friend!

More DORA!
