Date Night

On Saturday, we got Caitlyn (Steve's Freshman cousin) to babysit Aubrey and we got to go out on a date for an early birthday present.  We went to Pella to the matinee of The Hunger Games.  Neither of us had any idea what the movie was about going into it, but we had heard a lot about it from our students.  We both ended up really liking it, especially for a movie that was over two hours long - I would definitely recommend it!  We shared a large popcorn and pop there (I LOVE movie theater popcorn) and Steve wanted to take me out for supper too after that but we weren't that hungry, so we just went to Smokey Row and had light sandwiches and coffee.  It was a nice night out and we were still home on time to put Aubrey to bed at a reasonable hour - that's why we love the matinees! Puking

Well, little Miss Aubrey continues to keep things interesting.  For about the past month or so Aubrey has been throwing up a LOT lately...several times a week!  It is not the flu or from a cold as she pukes and is completely fine, but trying to figure out what the cause is seems very overwhelming.

Is it the whole milk? carsickness? crying? coughing? choking? allergy? sensitive tummy? We have no idea! We have not brought her into the doctor yet but we may consider it if this continues...maybe they can figure out a food allergy or maybe it's acid reflux.

Whatever the case may be, it is absolutely TORTURE for me to be on my way to school and here Aubrey throw up in the car and I have to turn right around and clean up the mess. If you know me at all, you know that I DESPISE throw up! I guess God has a sense of humor.

Anyway, just thought I'd keep "you" updated...whoever "you" are that is reading this :)

Springtime fun

Another update from our own little world over here.  Aubrey continues to learn new things everyday, including getting closer to walking, drinking more whole milk (although she still is QUITE the puker if the milk isn't good), and developing quite the little personality.

If you notice here she doesn't have a rubber band in her hair but 

it still has a mo-hawk after a long day with the rubber band in.

She can be so cheesy when you get out the camera!

And two seconds later I ask, "Where are the cows?" She moos and she is perfectly fine again.

Afternoon Outside

Welcome, Gavin Lee!

We got the call Friday morning at 6:30 that Gavin Lee arrived.  Aubrey and I were on our way to Sioux Center by 1:00, after putting in a short day of school until 11:00.  Here are a few pics from the quick, but well worthwhile trip to meet Gavin! :)

13 months

Aubrey's 13th month birthday was today! Sorry no pics this time but a few things about her:

• she is FINALLY walking behind her push toys and getting more confident on her two feet; she also likes to pull herself up now. . . we're hoping to have a walker by summer :) 
• she knows that after supper it's bathtime: tonight she started taking her shirt off in the high chair because she was ready!
• during bathtime she must hand me each of the toys to put in the bucket before we get out and then she scoots away from me since she wants bathtime to last longer
• she loves outside: today after we came in and I took off her coat and hat; she went right back to it and tried to put it back on and pointed outside
• she is getting more comfortable with grass
• her favorite thing to do and say is "hi" with a very friendly wave to anyone
• starting to echo what you tell her to say, more in the tone and dynamic of her voice, than actual words, but it's really fun
• has discovered drawing with pens and colors and thinks she's so good it. . .lol
