Welcome, Gavin Lee!

We got the call Friday morning at 6:30 that Gavin Lee arrived.  Aubrey and I were on our way to Sioux Center by 1:00, after putting in a short day of school until 11:00.  Here are a few pics from the quick, but well worthwhile trip to meet Gavin! :)

13 months

Aubrey's 13th month birthday was today! Sorry no pics this time but a few things about her:

  • she is FINALLY walking behind her push toys and getting more confident on her two feet; she also likes to pull herself up now. . . we're hoping to have a walker by summer :)
  • she knows that after supper it's bathtime: tonight she started taking her shirt off in the high chair because she was ready!
  • during bathtime she must hand me each of the toys to put in the bucket before we get out and then she scoots away from me since she wants bathtime to last longer
  • she loves outside: today after we came in and I took off her coat and hat; she went right back to it and tried to put it back on and pointed outside
  • she is getting more comfortable with grass
  • her favorite thing to do and say is "hi" with a very friendly wave to anyone
  • starting to echo what you tell her to say, more in the tone and dynamic of her voice, than actual words, but it's really fun
  • has discovered drawing with pens and colors and thinks she's so good it. . .lol

It happened...in the tub...

DISCLAIMER. . .
maybe not be appropriate for all readers :)

It happened...in the tub...Aubrey Dawn POOPED! I had a bad feeling tonight was the night.  I made the comment to Steve that she hadn't pooped yet tonight so I hope she doesn't do it in the tub.  Suddenly she made her poop face and there it was! Her first poop in the tub.  I screamed and told Steve to quickly come look too! We then sat there debating who would take Aubrey out and get her ready for bed and who would have to deal with the "floaters."  Steve took Aubrey so I was left with the "floaters." I panicked and didn't know what to do right away but then I decided to use one of Aubrey little strainer toys and collected it and put it back into her wet diaper.  Funny thing was Steve asked me what I did with it and he said, "Did you flush it?" . . . Oh, duh! I never even thought of that.  Next time now we'll know what to do. Haha.  Anyway, sorry, but I had to share this milestone!  Happy Easter :)

Tulips Came Early

Since the tulips came early in Pella before Tulip Time I went uptown today with Aubrey to snap a few pics.  Unfortunately she did not like sitting on the ground and was much too interested in everyone around her.  So hardly any pictures looking or even smiling.  Oh well, good try, Mommy!
(Sorry that a few pictures look distorted.)

Life As We Know It. . . Same Ole Same Ole

Well because of the DEMAND of requests to post more often, here you go...
(YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE :))
Life as we know it is pretty routine with school and Aubrey. Nothing too exciting going on but here are a few pictures of the "same ole, same ole."

Daddy playing with Aubrey in our bedroom

We've been going on a lot of walks lately.
We walk up to the neighbors while Steve does chores there.

This is what Aubrey's hair looks like after you take out the rubber band.

I like to leave Aubrey sleeping in the car if she falls asleep,
BUT it got too hot in there and this is how soaked she was of sweat!!!

Poor girl...so hot and thirsty!!

Getting messy at supper with ravioli.

Cute pony tail for the hotter weather.  They stay in better than the barrettes.

Naptime

Sorry for the lack of pics lately, I guess I just have more stories!  I should have gotten pics today, but my battery was dead.  For the past couple of times for naptime Aubrey has been doing everything she can to avoid taking a nap.  Maybe she is weaning herself off of the morning nap, but the things she has been doing lately, I have to admit, are pretty funny.

Today, for example I put her down for her morning nap and she played and played and laughed and giggled and squealed and had a grand ole time until after 45 minutes of it, I decided we would forgo the nap.  She never is fussing or crying, just playing around!  I had the door cracked opened and would peek occasionally and this is some of what I found today.

1-wrestling her blankie
2-doing rolls all around the crib
3-sitting up (several times)
4-leaning against the rails as a backrest
5-half of her pants OFF
6-legs through the rails relaxing
7-blankie on top of her head
8-laying on her knees with her face on the mattress
9-singing, squealing, and laughing her head off
10-kicking the wall, the mattress and anything else
11-ALL of her pants off

So after 45 minutes of this and going in telling her to stop playing, putting her pants back on, taking away the blankie, and anything else I could do to encourage napping, I decided it just wasn't worth it.  So, this morning she only had a 10 minute snooze on the way home from church.

I later tried an afternoon nap, and the same thing went on for about 30 minutes and then she FINALLY dozed off in a very uncomfortable position, but had to be woken up after an hour since we had a Bible Study we needed to be at.  So, up for 15 hours and only an hour nap - she was in a surprisingly GOOD MOOD! Hmmm...very interesting!  At the time it's kinda funny, but oh so frustrating too:) Oh, the joys of parenting!
