Aubrey Look Alike!

Okay, so I saw this picture on facebook of one of my cousin's kids (not pointing out who that is) and I saw an 

AUBREY LOOK ALIKE!

I think you can see the one who I'm talking about, so I'm not going to point her out...BUT

that is EXACTLY how I picture Aubrey as a little pre-schooler!

AND, Aubrey is even wearing the EXACT SAME SHIRT TODAY!

So, crazy! Anyway, hope this finds you, my faithful reads doing well!

Mrs. Stam's Baby

It's official! I am now a full time 1st grade teacher until March! Yikes! I can't believe how exhausting the days are but things are going really well! I might even lose a few pounds from all the running around and crazy busy days until I crash at night! 

My friend, Leah, had her baby boy last night! 

Collin Daniel Stam made his appearance into this world at 8:19 pm on Tuesday, December 11. 

Upon arrival, he weighed 8lb 2 oz and is 21 1/2 inches in length. 

CONGRATULATIONS to Caleb and Leah Stam -

 what a wonderful journey to begin...parenthood! 

I am blessed to be able to help out a good friend and co-worker and take care of her 1st grade kiddos while she is on maternity leave! The kids were SO EXCITED when they got the news this morning from Mrs. Kaisand!

5-1

Tonight the team traveled just down the road to Eddyville. Since it is a short drive on over, Aubrey and I ventured out to watch, too along with Grandpa and Grandma and Aunt Andrea. The team was playing for the "Eddybylooska Battle on Highway 163 Traveling Turtle Trophy" (whatever that means) lol. We had won last year and wanted to keep it that way and we did! We blew away the competition with a final score of 68-36. Eddyville's best player went down Friday night and was out with a concussion, but still, we smoked em:) Good night Lady Indians!

PS- This is NOT what the trophy looks like, but it's a "turtle trophy"

Aubrey's Art

This week at the babysitter, Aubrey made us a wonderful little Christmas present! 

Since we were both home sick on Friday, we didn't notice it until later on that night and it was a wonderful surprise! 

Thanks, Lisa, for working with Aubrey to make it! It turned out adorable! 

You can't quite tell the size but it is about an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of canvas.

Tonight the Oskaloosa Girls Basketball team was on the road again, this time to Pella High. 

UNFORTUNATELY it was a big bummer because the whole Kaisand family was SICK! Steve stayed home from school with strep throat and I have a sinus infection. This was the fist game that Steve was not able to go coach and he was big-time bummed! 

Thankfully the team was prepared and the Oskaloosa girls won 55-36. Pella had it close to a 5 point game, but then the team pulled away!  Steve had prepared them well, but it was very disappointing that he couldn't go! Instead we sat on our couches and listened on the radio. 

So, here we are 4-1 and off to a great start to the season!

3-1

We played Pella Christian on the road tonight and got out first loss on the season. It is always hard for the girls to go and play there. The final score was 60-48. They had some VERY TALL girls that we could not defend against and a girl who made about four threes. Add those together and it didn't add up for a win for us. BIG BUMMER! So, we are 3 and 1 on the season. There's your update for the night. It's not nearly as fun posting about a loss, that's for sure! Good thing we still love the coach! 

"You are so pretty!"

Okay, I normally wouldn't post something like this, but I just have to share since it made such an impact on my day Saturday! It was Saturday morning and I was working out at Curves and didn't particularly want to be there that morning, but I was and just going about my workout when an elderly lady leaned over to me and said,

"You are so pretty!"

Wait a minute, what...I am not sure I know who you are and I am in the middle of sweating my booty off and you say that to me?! WOW! I immediately said,

"Oh, why thank you, I don't get that a lot, like ever...but thank you!" (BIG SMILE)

It's not every day that you get such a sweet comment from a stranger.  We didn't go on talking the rest of the time there. She did her workout and I did mine and I just could not stop thinking about her kind words the rest of the time, well, more like rest of the day or even the rest of the weekend!

Here was a very elderly woman, and I think I may know her name and she might even go to our church, and many of you reading from this area may even know who she is and it wouldn't surprise you by that comment, but that's not what was so important to me. What was so meaningful is that this woman did not know me at all, but just felt compelled to share that with me.

I know it was an "outwardly" comment but it goes to show that a small little comment to someone can make their day in such a big way! So, choose your words carefully and go ahead and make someone's day! :)
