Aubrey’s 14th Birthday!

For Aubrey's friends birthday party, we took the girls to a BREAKOUT game in Des Moines and then out for supper at Texas Roadhouse. Unfortunately they ran just out of time and didn't make it out in the 60 minutes, it was 61 minutes. They still had fun! Aubrey's friends of course told the server that it was her birthday so she got to ride the bull and free dessert!

We decided to celebrate her birthday at home on Monday, March 10 since we were all able to be home. She chose to grill burgers on the new Traeger grill with sides. She then opened presents and enjoyed an amazing cookie cake from Cranberry Stone for dessert.

She got some NIKE PRO shorts

She got some NIKE FLY Basketball shorts

On her actual birthday, Steve had PTC and Aubrey had school and volleyball practice, but we were able to pick up Jaarsma donuts as her birthday treat for her classmates.

I also took her out of school about a half hour early to go the the Courthouse to get her driver's permit! She had already taken the test at home and passed so it was just a matter of paperwork - we haven't let her drive yet...yikes!

After volleyball practice, she had supper alone at 7:30 with leftovers :)

GEMS Sunday

For GEMS Sunday it was a tribute farewell to Aubrey's 8th grade class that I had taught with Lisa for the past 5 years. They led the praise team and litany and were recognized for their work. Avery sang in the whole group choir, too.

Aubrey Fine Arts

Aubrey competed in our Local Fine Arts competition at our school.
She did a reader's theatre "Cindereally," an interpretive speech "I Dreamed a Dream"
and played a saxophone solo.
She moved on to the District Fine Arts competition where she got a blue and purple ribbon.

End of Little Eagles Basketball

Avery played Little Eagle Basketball for three years and decided at the end of this season that basketball wasn't really her thing. She made some friends and had fun hanging out, but is ready for more cheer, tumbling and dance coming her way! Her coaches were Lindsey Stout and Marv Van Wyk helped, too!

This was also Aubrey's last year with Little Eagle - she has done it since she was in 6th grade and now she will be moving on to high school basketball things! She enjoyed that Steve was able to help coach, along with Brent Geetings.

Daddy-Daughter Dance

This year was Avery's LAST Daddy-Daughter Dance with Steve.
She had to prep with a face mask and her makeup.
They went to the PO Box for supper and then the dance.

The entire Junior High, of 6th - 8th graders at Oskaloosa Christian are required to participate in National History Day. They got to pick a topic that fit this year's theme "Rights and Responsibilities."

Then, her and 12 other of our junior high kids moved on to the regional competition held at
