The next day, we met the rest of the Van Grouw family
(except Curt - we missed you) and hit up the
Henry Doorly Zoo!
It was a warm day, we but made it from 9-5!
We had a GREAT time at the zoo
(maybe just not the ride home, wait to read about that at the end :))
Most of the pictures are pretty self-explanatory :)
This was pretty cool to see.
There was a newborn monkey, like 10 days old, nursing!
If you click the picture you can see it better, the baby is orange.
The girls with Weston
Three VG siblings with their babies :)
lunchtime!
Aubrey REALLY wanted to see a giraffe...so there ya go, girl!
Sorry, Kyle, the plan wasn't for you to push
the two big girls. :)
taking a break at the "park"
getting sleepy?
Having fun getting wet in the misters.
It felt good on a hot day!
This was cool, too.
Josh sat down with Weston and the monkey
came right up the the glass, cross his arms and sat down.
Everyone wanted a closer look here :)
A rainbow on the way home....a bit of glimmer
during the HORRID ride home!
Here is the one picture I got of our terrible ride home.
It was supposed to be a 3 hour ride where both girls were
going to sleep the whole way home since it has been a long hot day, but NOPE!
Just a few of the things gone wrong:
-Aubrey did NOT sleep the entire ride home
-Both girls crying/screaming at the same time while stuck in construction
-Avery refusing to take a paci and fall asleep
-Me taking off my seat belt and turning around about 500 times to assist
-Turning up the radio to block out their screaming
-lots of extra stops!
1st stop: retrieve pacis, rock Avery to try to sleep...FAIL
2nd stop: get gas...Avery HUGE blowout all over clothes and car seat
3rd stop: Steve hopped in the back seat between two car seats
to soothe Avery to sleep (FINALLY!), give Aubrey the iPad and Mommy drive
4th stop: side of the road to change clothes since Aubrey had an accident in her car seat
Oh. My. Word.
BUT, the one good thing....BOTH girls slept in their beds at home
from 10 pm - 7:30/8:00 am - A - M - A - Z - I - N - G! :)
