Avery's 5th grade Field Trip

I drove separately and met Avery's 5th grade class at Jester Park in Granger, Iowa.
We had never been here before and it was a beautiful fall day!

The ranger was with our class the whole day and was pretty fun. We started off in the classroom discussing different animals from the prairie.

They played a fun game of predators vs. prey and had to get lost in the tall grass!

We then went on a small nature hike around the prairie.

The kids showed how long the roots really are in the prairie.

The "ant hill" at the end of our hike.

They had to catch bugs in their nets - Avery was NOT a fan! LOL!

Lots of bugs were caught by the class.

We ate lunch outside - beautiful day!

After lunch, we did a few sessions on bison

They got into groups and had some bison products to make a tool.

Then we got into groups to make a tee-pee!

Avery's group struggled a bit, but finally got it figured out!

We then helped take down the large tee-pee right before they left! I was able to take Avery home and we did some shopping in Des Moines on our way home.

ISU Football Game

On Saturday, September 21, it was the girl's FIRST TIME to an
Iowa State Football game! The game started at 1:00 and it was a HOT ONE!

We took the truck so that we could park more easily and "tailgate" a bit before the game.

We parked at Ames Christian School and ate our early lunch in the back of the truck before we walked over - about a mile's walk.

We walked through all the tail-gaters and chatted with a few people from Osky in the RV lot first.

Walking in over the bridge

We got there early, but it later became very packed!

It got pretty packed that first quarter and we were squished in and quite hot!

After the 1st quarter we went down under some shade and caught a breeze to cool off for a bit!

We enjoyed seeing the cheerleaders, too!

As Avery was bored she picked off her pom pom and put them in my hair.

As people were leaving toward the end of the blowout game, that gave us a lot more room
and Avery enjoyed the freedom :)

After a VICTORY, we drove to Altoona to grab Texas Roadhouse for supper -
a little sunburned and tired.

The Be Real went off and caught a good pic!
