I drove separately and met Avery's 5th grade class at Jester Park in Granger, Iowa.
We had never been here before and it was a beautiful fall day!
The ranger was with our class the whole day and was pretty fun. We started off in the classroom discussing different animals from the prairie.
They played a fun game of predators vs. prey and had to get lost in the tall grass!
We then went on a small nature hike around the prairie.
The kids showed how long the roots really are in the prairie.
The "ant hill" at the end of our hike.
They had to catch bugs in their nets - Avery was NOT a fan! LOL!
Lots of bugs were caught by the class.
We ate lunch outside - beautiful day!

After lunch, we did a few sessions on bison
They got into groups and had some bison products to make a tool.
Then we got into groups to make a tee-pee!
Avery's group struggled a bit, but finally got it figured out!
We then helped take down the large tee-pee right before they left! I was able to take Avery home and we did some shopping in Des Moines on our way home.
