Spring Break - Chicago/Notre Dame Day 2

We then drove to downtown Chicago that morning to walk all around downtown and take in the city sights. It was definitely a colder morning and we left right before the rain came after lunch! We then drove a couple hours further to Indiana to the college of Notre Dame where we got to watch the March Madness play in basketball game for the ISU Women! What a neat experience!

PICS IN REVERSE ORDER!

Driving home the next day was a little stressful in the rain/ice but thankfully we were driving out of it and we made it home just fine!

YAY - the Cyclones pulled off a win and we were very nervous they wouldn't!

Celebrating Coach Fennely's 800th win!

There were really not a lot of fans there so the girls got on the big screen a lot - which was SO FUN!

This was the score at halftime and we were feeling a bit hopeless...

We still don't know how we got such cheap tickets so close - it was AWESOME! Center court and basically right behind the press seats.

We got to peek in the football stadium and could actually see the field!

We walked around the campus a bit and a nice tour lady gave us a few tips of things to see.
 Everyone was so nice!

The tour guide told us to look for "Touchdown Jesus" - we didn't really know if she was joking or if she was serious - but this is the monument in the back that she was referring to - kinda crazy!

Very cool buildings on the Notre Dame campus

We saw the chapel and the door was open so I peeked in - and the mass service was going on and I could see the Pope preaching and the congregation - oops!

We also stopped by the Grotto that was a pretty historic landmark.

Goodbye Chicago!

There was a Raising Canes right on Michigan Avenue next to our underground parking,
which worked out perfectly!

We decided to take the long way back to our to find the iconic CHICAGO sign!

Avery had birthday money to spend and was thrilled to see this HUGE Sephora downtown!

We walked inside the Starbucks Reserve Roastery and it was an impressive multi-level business!

The NIKE store was many levels too!

We were shocked to see that the Chicago River was still green! They dyed it for St. Patrick's Day about 4 days earlier! Fun to see!

It turned out to be pretty chilly when the buildings blocked the sun.

The TRUMP TOWER

We stepped into the Nutella store with this giant jar!

That short striped rectangular building was my apartment when
I student taught it Chicago 20 years ago!

THE BEAN

Right across the street from our underground parking was a Starbucks -
so of course we had to get a beverage!
