Day 2 proved to be a day of TONS OF WALKING
to take in as many sights as possible!
We left the hotel around 9:00 to go find our boat tour.
Since we navigated the buses and walking so well,
we got there early, so we checked out Navy Puer first thing,
10:00 a.m. Architectural Boat Tour -
this was our boat!
This lady was the tour guide and was AMAZING
and so knowledgeable about the history of the city - quite impressive!
"Trump Tower"
a triangle designed building
"Corn Cob" apartment buildings
This architect decided to put a map on the side of this building-
the red dot is where this buidling sits among the river and city.
Cool idea!
Old Post Office where they made the road right through it,
"Willis Tower" (formerly Sears Tower)
2nd tallest building in the United States
"NBC Buidling" - you can see the peacock on the VERY top
After our boat tour, we walked Navy Pier
End of the pier
The famous Ferris Wheel
We rode it and had great views! It was a gorgeous day!
on the ride up
Eeek! What a view!
Lunch at Harry Carey's with a
"Not Your Father's Root Beer"
Walking along the river walk and found this fountain
and someone to take our picture, too!
Buckingham Fountain
The Art Institute of Chicago
The fountains at Millenium Park
It felt GREAT to take our shoes off and walk in the water!
It was getting HOT!
"The BEAN"
View under the Bean
Then I found my OLD APARTMENT
I lived in when I taught in Chicago.
151 N Michigan Avenue
There it is!
Turns out it was undergoing a major renovation!
Looks like a lot of things change in almost 10 years :)
Ahhh....we found a Jamba Juice - so refreshing after a long day of walking the city!
We went back to the hotel to shower and frehsen up for the evening,
Lou Malnati's pizza for supper
Deep-dish Chicago style pizza - yum!
Then off to "Howl at the Moon" -
a dueling piano bar we would visit when I lived there.
The piansist and the band was really good -
we really enjoyed the female singers :)
End of Day 2.
