Winter Jam 2022

On Saturday, January 22, after a busy day of basketball,
we headed to Des Moines to Winter Jam!
We used our Christmas money from Grandpa and Grandma Betty,
THANK YOU!

We arrived around 5:30 to get our seats!

The first band - I am They
Next was Kevin Quinn, a Disney and Netflix star

The band NewSong followed him, which they are the ones who started Winter Jam

After that was my personal favorite, rapper KB

Tauren Wells was the next band

Colton Dixon followed

Skillet was the last band and they were HARD ROCK - we left after only 15 minutes of them.

It was a fun night, but didn't get home until 11:00!

Upward/YMCA Basketball

After over a year off with no basketball, this year Upward combined with the YMCA
basketball to have a season this year.
Aubrey is on a girls third - sixth grade team and Avery is on a girls 1st and 2nd grade girls team.

Aubrey after two games back to back, full court for the first time.
HOT and TIRED!

Aubrey did great and at one point, her team was down and Aubrey came back and scored 8 points in a row to close the gap and her team won by two! Yay!

Avery had a LOT to learn her first game. I was told by her that I was talking too much, so I'll work on that! She is mostly glad to be able to play with her BFF!

Avery's basketball debut! She shot the ball at least five times but didn't make a shot, yet.

Steve is her coach this year.

Iowa Sate Basketball Game

On Saturday, January 15, we risked the very bad roads and headed to Ames
for our family's first trip together to Hilton Coliseum!
We met up with the Wynias and had a great time
and even got to see an ISU WIN!

We grabbed Chik-Fil-A from the drive through and ate in the ISU parking lot so we could park close!

Even though we parked close, it was COLD!

Three rows from the top, but still a great view!

After the game, we headed to Altoona to Jethro's BBQ.

The Wynias were considering to stay overnight, but due to the bad roads, they stayed in Des Moines, so we hung out at Bass Pro Shops for awhile after supper.

The kids were also able to sneak in a half hour of bowling there at Uncle Bucks!

Christmas Day

On Christmas Day, Aubrey still wasn't feeling that well and coughing a lot, so she stayed home
from church by herself while the rest of us went.

Curt and Emily and Waylon came over for lunch and playing.

That afternoon we went to the Sioux Center theatre to watch SING 2 with the girls - it was SO GOOD!

The crew who saw Sing 2

The other group who saw American Underdog - story of Kurt Warner

That evening we all headed back to Grandma's house for stockings, bingo and supper

Avery got a cowgirl boot to signify her first year showing cattle.

Aubrey got a saxophone since she started that this year.

We had planned to stay longer, but a few other people got sick in the night and we took Aubrey into the walk-in clinic and found out she had Influenza A and ear infection. Bummer!

We decided to go home Sunday afternoon, after Avery started getting a fever and cough, too.

Icees to help their coughs and fevers.

We stopped by Jolly Holiday Lights in DSM on the way home with no wait!

We got a dart board and would spend a lot of our breaking doing this new game - and missing quite a bit, too!
