7 weeks

Today marks Avery's seven week birthday!
Wow - that sounds crazy.
Well, just to document a few things, here's what she's up to:
Overall, we try to stick -very loosely to the E.A.S.Y. schedule:
Eat, Awake/Activity, Sleep, Your time

AWAKE TIME:
-still a very content baby while awake
-starting to coo and interact and SMILE - yay
especially after a good feeding and burp
-likes the play mat
-not a fan of tummy time -would rather suck her fist contently
-likes when Aubrey kisses her - she smiles
-eats very consistently every 3 hours, almost exactly
and still a very FAST eater
-takes the bottle great for me or Steve or anyone else,
about 4 1/2 ounces each feeding
-wears some 0-3 month clothing, but even some 6 months
needed for the length
-really enjoys bath time now - we take one every other day
(cradle cap is mostly gone -yay!)

SLEEP TIME:
-has become a stinker at sleeping in her crib lately!
-will NOT nap in her crib more that 45 minutes at a time
-I still put her down in her crib when we are home,
even if it's short-lived
-will sleep anywhere else fine: bouncy, swing, car seat, your arms
but put her in her crib and eeek!
-overnight sleep is unpredictable lately!
-she may go 4 1/2 hours and then up every hour after
-lately has gone on a streak that she doesn't like to be put back in her crib if sleeping,
she wakes up right away and need to be rocked back to sleep
-LOVES napping in her swing - could sleep there for hours if I let her
-I am NOT a fan of standing at the crib at 2 am
standing and rocking and praying she stays asleep when I put her down
-Steve is a good rocker, so he's been on call at night too, now

Overall, still a good baby and the smiles lately have been so sweet!
Now, if we can get this sleeping thing down consistently in her crib, we'd be golden!
But then again, this stage too shall pass ;)

Happy Easter

We had such beautiful weather for Easter this year
we just had to get some pictures outside after church :)

cousins Noah, Aubrey, Avery

 nice Aubrey -
able to feed your sister and drink yourself :)

Easter egg hunt at Grandma Betty's
(she got it before Daddy!)

So many eggs!
with Daddy, Grandpa Craig and Grandpa Betty looking on

SO bright outside, but SO beautiful!

Wow - what a lot of eggs, Aubrey!

SO tired after a busy Easter -
she was dirty and sweaty so we lost the shirt ;)

Easter Egg Hunt

Last year we went to Oskaloosa's Easter egg hunt
that is put on by Bank Iowa and Aubrey enjoyed it
so we decided to give it a try again this year :)
Although it lasts all of 5 minutes, Aubrey loved it!
She got way more eggs this year, too
and had to collect them all by herself!
Each egg had 2 chocolate candies and 5 cents.
Not too shabby :)

And for a few pictures of Avery too :)

One Month

Yup, we can't believe that it's been a month already, but it has!
Here's what Avery is up to:

-very content baby overall
-likes her swing already more than Aubrey ever did
-is a fast, great eater (every three hours almost on the dot :))
-sleeps well at night (has been giving me a 5 hr stretch already!)
-sleeps in her sleep sack in her crib happily for naps and nighttime
-Steve gave her a bottle once and she downed it no problem
-gets "hugged and kissed" by her sister OFTEN
-now likes her baths and doesn't cry
-has got some cradle cap that we have to scrub often
-starting to find her voice and almost smiles willingly :)
-wears 3 month clothes and need some 6 month for length

"typical day":
up between 7-9 am
awake time for awhile
takes a twoish hour morning nap
awake time for awhile
takes a long fourish hour afternoon nap - waking to eat
early evening/evening a bit more unpredictable
fussy time during supper
goes down for the night between 8:30 -10 pm
eats around 2-3 times a night and goes RIGHT back to sleep :)
(repeat)

I guess this bath thing isn't too bad :)

Let's Celebrate

Well, we told Aubrey that if she could stay dry
overnight with no diaper/pull-ups for over a week,
then we could celebrate!
She has done that, and more so on Saturday
she reminded us that we need to CELEBRATE!
So we tried to make her day extra special.

1-Steve took her to Jaarsma bakery for
pink donuts for breakfast
2-Steve played all her imaginary games with
her all morning :)
3-She got to watch "The Little Mermaid"
that was on TV and have a "picnic" lunch
in the living room
4-We went on a LONG walk as a family
(maybe a little too long for this recovering
Mommy - but the weather was gorgeous!)
5- We went to supper at McDonald's
(I don't know that Steve and I have ever
gone there together before to sit down and eat :))
6-We played games

To Aubrey, it was a great way to celebrate!

Videos!

Here are some videos (mostly of Aubrey) that we
thought you might enjoy!

Here Aubrey is meeting Avery for the first time!
So glad Daddy got this on video.

Here Daddy is trying to get Aubrey to sing "Jesus Loves Me"
at supper time. My favorite part is the "playing with fire" - lol!

Here Aubrey is reciting the nursery rhyme "Hush Little Baby!"
She does pretty good for hearing/reading it so often :)
