Van Grouw Vaca - part 1

On July 4, after a few days at home from the Kaisand vaca, we headed out for the Van Grouw reunion in Michigan! We set out Sunday after morning church and not sure how far we'd make it!

With Avery's Lyme Disease diagnosis, we were still pumping antibiotics 3x/day for the whole trip.

pit stop in Illinois

Oh, please!

We decided to stop in Michigan City in the afternoon to go exploring!
We settled into our hotel right away.

First stop was the pool to get rid of some energy from driving that day.

After a quick swim, we were hungry and found a Buffalo Wild Wings a few minutes from our hotel!

We found out that there would be fireworks shot off from the beach around 9:00 so we decided to explore and check it out! We happened to cross the bridge that was opening to let boats go through!

RIGHT on Lake Michigan - couldn't've done better even if we planned it!

We had a great time playing in the sand, walking in the water, and people watching before the fireworks.

On Monday, July 5, we drove into Michigan and headed to my Aunt Ruth's million dollar cottage to spend the afternoon there as a pre-reunion.

We promised the girls McDs for breakfast and they were thrilled!

WOW - Lake Michigan with NO ONE around! Totally private beach-front property!

Walking through the sand dunes to the cottage up the stairs.

Hanging out with 2nd cousins
