Spring Break - NWI

On Friday, we didn't have school, so we went up to Northwest Iowa to meet the new babies and have the spring birthday party. The weather on Saturday was a little snowy and icy, but the rest of the time the weather was ok.

Avery's 11th Birthday!

Avery tends to make a big deal out of her birthday, and she was bummed that she would be in school this year for it, but we tried to make it special. She went to Dollar Tree with me (on Aubrey's birthday) to pick out balloons. She opened one present in the morning before school with donuts and muffins, had birthday treats at school (cheddar Chex mix), had a GORGEOUS 65 degree day to play outside and then had supper at home with gifts. She will have a friends party later in the month after spring break!

Her supper choice was chicken alfredo, fruit and mozzarella sticks.

She got a note to look under our bed...

I had forgotten that I had Aubrey's old computer box under there (from several years ago) and Avery may have thought she was getting a laptop - oops!

It was a 9-cube organizer.

Aubrey’s 14th Birthday!

For Aubrey's friends birthday party, we took the girls to a BREAKOUT game in Des Moines and then out for supper at Texas Roadhouse. Unfortunately they ran just out of time and didn't make it out in the 60 minutes, it was 61 minutes. They still had fun! Aubrey's friends of course told the server that it was her birthday so she got to ride the bull and free dessert! 

We decided to celebrate her birthday at home on Monday, March 10 since we were all able to be home. She chose to grill burgers on the new Traeger grill with sides. She then opened presents and enjoyed an amazing cookie cake from Cranberry Stone for dessert.

On her actual birthday, Steve had PTC and Aubrey had school and volleyball practice, but we were able to pick up Jaarsma donuts as her birthday treat for her classmates.

I also took her out of school about a half hour early to go the the Courthouse to get her driver's permit! She had already taken the test at home and passed so it was just a matter of paperwork - we haven't let her drive yet...yikes! 

After volleyball practice, she had supper alone at 7:30 with leftovers :)
