Vacation Part 2: Gatlinburg, TN (pt 1)

The next day, Monday, July 29 we traveled over to
Gatlinburg, TN for the Van Grouw Family reunion.

We decided to go off the beaten path for a
lunch break.
We saw a lake on the GPS so followed it
down a very windy gravel road til we got here!

Very pretty...middle of Kentucky somewhere!

We ate our picnic lunch as best as we could
won the rocks and in the dirt :)

They went on a little hike to get some energy
out before we were on the road again.

FINALLY we made it to Gatlinburg, TN
and the cousins are reunited again!

First thing on the agenda, Monday night, July 29:
Dixie Stampede with the WHOLE clan.
There were 60 of us there this year!

pre-show hanging out to some country music

SHOW TIME!

The show was AMAZING!
There were horses, ostriches, buffaloes, pigs, chickens
and fancy riders and displays - very cool!

Uncle Curt took Aubrey down after the show
to meet the "princess" and pet the horse.

Go BLUE team!

Outside of the Dixie Stampede

Day two. July 30: Family Hike in the Smokey Mountains.
Grandma and Andy parked their chairs at the beginning
of the trail while we all hiked for a few hours.

Hiking along with everyone

Aubrey did ok hiking, but thought
it was much easier to be carried.

The line of the family going up.

We saw these cute little guys right
along the trail.

Having fun walking along the bridge
over the water.

Everybody hanging out for a break near the water.

We brought Aubrey's water shoes along
so she had a great time wading in the water
and throwing rocks!

Thanks, Uncle Josh for finding this
perfect walking stick!

After the hike, some of the kiddos were looking down the floor
to the lower level where some other kids were
in the hot tub. They could see right through the cracks :)

Uh, oh, Uncle Kyle had a flat tire
so the kiddos were checking it out.

Nighty, night Aubrey!

Steve and Kyle were looking forward to playing pinochle
again this reunion. I guess they still got it, since they WON!
