Gone South, Down on the Farm

The Van Grouw family made their way down south to Cainsville, MO
(about a 2 hour drive for us) to check
out Curt's new life on the ranch!
It was a quick couple of days from Friday night to Sunday afternoon,
but we had some fun times and got along for the most part :)!

This is the view outside of Curt's "ranch house"

Aubrey had lots of fun playing outside!

Lots of FUN cousin time --
with chalk.

THE house!

Checking out the 4-wheelers with Daddy.

The boys...
Curt, Kyle, Gavin and Steve
checking out the barns.

A short ride from Uncle Curt

These two hung around together all weekend!

"Grandma Grouw" enjoyed having all 3 grand-kids around,
especially during snuggly reading time before bed.

Once we got the "littles" to bed Friday night, the rest of us enjoyed
an evening outside around a bonfire!

Making s'mores

:)

The "GREAT" fire we thought we had
until...

Jen: "Why does it look like there is a sinking hole below the wood?"
Curt: "Cuz I dug the rocks down low to make a nice fire."
Jen: "Ok"

10 minutes later...

Jen: "Why does it sound like there are rocks falling into water?!
I really think something, is not right!"
(others laughing, but Jen knowing something seemed strange)
Boys: "What?!"

After some investigating, in seemed that we decided to make our
bonfire right on top of the septic tank...OOPS!

Curt was wondering why there was a nice pile of rocks there,
and then we realized why!

The fire burned right through the covering for the septic.

Scrambling to get water to quickly put out the fire.
And Mom opening Steve's birthday present (flashlight)
so we could see what we were doing!

Hmmmmm.......how'd that happen?!

Saturday morning and afternoon was spent checking out the place.
These two girlies had run chasing each other around.

And, of course BUBBLES with Aunt Jessica!

Curt took us on a tour around his several-hundred
acres property and came across these!
A neighbor had these CATFISH HEADS nailed
to a pole to show them off - CRAZY!

Then, we all went out on 4-wheelers to watch
Curt chop down trees.

Here are the Daddys with their daughters!

Family ride on the 4 wheeler!

Curt using his skid loader to chop down trees.

Good work, Curt!

Mommy and Aubrey hanging on for dear life in the back!

The 4-wheeler train.

Curt's cows grazing in the pasture...
could it get any better?! (the boys say)

Another shot of his ranch house he gets
to himself unless the boss is visiting.

More fun together...
this time throwing rocks.

Saturday evening we drove down to KC
for a Royals game. Grandma stayed back and watched
the littles - thanks GRANDMA!

Thanks, Curt for hosting the rambunctious crew:)
